Newt Rides Again in Marshall Allen Prequel
Augusta, Ga. - Newt Sexton, hero of The Naked Bus Driver--the first novel by retired Augusta neurosurgeon Marshall B. Allen, Jr.--lived quite a life before he started his Chin-Ka-Pin Ranch nudist colony in Lake City, Fla.
Those early exploits are chronicled in Allen’s latest book--Newt in the World of Tarzan--published by Harbor House this month.
Newt left home at age 15 and landed a job at Sparklin’ Waters Resort, where his boss saw potential in him to become a valet, a tour guide, a lifeguard and an actor. A wholesome country boy at heart, Newt and Johnny Weissmuller became friends when a movie company came to town to shoot a Tarzan film.
Allen’s stories are based on the life of Newt Fiveash, a friend and former patient who is in his nineties now. Hearing Newt tell the tales of his amazing life, Dr. Allen knew he wanted to preserve for readers all of Newt’s remarkable and often unbelievable exploits.
Dr. Allen, a Mississippi native, is the former chief of neurosurgery and now emeritus professor of neurosurgery at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta, Ga.
He lives in and writes from his home in Augusta.
