BAPTISM AT BULL RUN
By James P. Reger
April 2004

Bloody clash at Bull Run shattered national innocence

AUGUSTA, GA - On a steamy day during the summer of 1861, Union and Confederate troops met on the banks of a small steam outside Manassas, Virginia, to settle their differences. Little did either side know that this battle would erupt into a long and bloody war, testing the will of both armies and the nation to survive.
In this blistering recreation of that ferocious and pivotal battle, author James P. Reger, best-selling author of Confederate Generals, presents an unforgettable portrait of men and officers caught up in a bloodbath nobody dreamed possible, a confrontation that startled and shocked an innocent but divided nation.
In the tradition of Killer Angels and Gods and Generals, Reger offers a riveting glimpse of men in battle—their hopes and dreams, frustrations and fears as they meet and die in this inaugural clash of arms.
