Harbor House announces return of hometown girl
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Carrie McCullough, an Augusta native and veteran newspaper
book reviews editor, has joined Harbor House to oversee marketing operations
for the Augusta-based book publishing company.
"I'm thrilled to be back in Augusta," McCullough said. "Harbor
House has already created a name and place in the publishing industry.
I plan on bringing more
exposure, both regional and national, to our growing list of titles and
authors."
Hired after a six-month national search, McCullough will also head up
editorial operations, according to publisher E. Randall Floyd.
"We're thrilled to bring Carrie on board," Floyd said. "Her
experience in the media,
her enthusiastic attitude, and her unique way of working with authors
will serve us well in the coming years."
McCullough is a graduate of Hephzibah High School and the University of
South Carolina, where she earned a bachelor's degree from the College
of Journalism
and Mass Communications.
She started her career in newspapers at The Augusta Chronicle as
a copy
clerk/obituary writer while still in high school. She later worked for
the Anderson Independent-Mail in Anderson, S.C., The State
in Columbia, the Beaufort Gazette
in Beaufort, and the Morning News in Florence, SC.
She also taught as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina.
As director of marketing, McCullough's job will be to help develop strategies
to better position Harbor House titles and authors. In her capacity as
managing editor, she will work with manuscript acquisitions, book editing
and one-on-one discussion with Harbor House authors.
