Harbor House announces two new lines set to Launch in 2004
AUGUSTA, Ga. -- 2004 is shaping up to be a big year for Harbor House
as the Augusta-based publishing house gears up to launch two new lines
aimed at Young Readers-Lights Out! and Heroes in Blue and Gray.
According to publisher E. Randall Floyd, Lights Out! is a "Goosebumps"-like
series that pits older pre-teens and young teens against an unwholesome
variety of ghosts, witches, demons, monsters and similar evil-doers. The
big difference, says Floyd, is that each title in the Lights Out! series
ends on a happy note with "happy and uplifting" resolutions.
"The series is designed to be scary and realistic while addressing
modern fears and concerns of the youth of today," Floyd explained.
"Parents will be pleased to know that, in each book, good invariably
overcomes evil in the end-with happy, uplifting resolutions."
A number of nationally-acclaimed authors are in negotiation to contribute
to this series, including Edmund Plante (Magic, Trapped, Seed of Evil,
Garden of Evil, Alone in the House), Carol Costa (The Secret of
Eastman Springs, Out of the Shadows, Death Insurance) and Edward Willett
(Spirit Singer, Soulworm, The Dark Unicorn, The
Haunted Horn).
Heroes in Blue and Gray, which also targets readers in the 11-17-age
bracket, tells
the story of America's Civil War through the eyes of some of the most
famous battlefield commanders on both sides of the conflict. Biographical
in format, these books focus on the uniqueness of each commander-their
strength and values, hopes and dreams, frustrations and fears as they
strategize and lead men into battle after battle from Fort Sumter to Appomattox.
