Augusta's Harbor House Inks Deal with National Book Network
Augusta-based book publisher Harbor House has a new national distributor
for its growing list of trade titlesNational Book Network, the nations
second-largest book distributor.
Publisher E. Randall Floyd made it official April 17 following a week-long
sales conference in Alexandria, Va., ending months of speculation and
negotiations with
the giant distributor headquartered just outside Washington, D.C., in
Lanham, Md.
This is a major step forward for our young company, Mr.
Floyd said in a news
release. National Book Network is one of the two leading book distributors
in the country. What this means is vastly improved penetration for our
books into all major chains like Barnes & Noble, Borders and Books-A-Million
and larger markets like New York and Chicago.
The switch to NBN ended a four-year-long relationship with BookWorld
Services,
based in Sarasota, FL.
We enjoyed some early success with BookWorld, but felt the time
was right to move on, Mr. Floyd added. NBN is a major player
with lots of clout and international representation. We will now be in
a better position to compete with much larger houses in New York, Chicago
and Los Angeles.
NBN President Jed Lyons said he was thrilled about bringing
Harbor House,
founded in 1997 by well-known Augusta author E. Randall Floyd, on board.
