David Healey earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from Washington College in Maryland, graduating cum laude. He got his start in journalism at South County Courier in Middletown, Delaware, from 1988 to 1989 as a reporter and editor before moving on to reporting for
Cecil Whig in Elkton, Maryland. Healey currently serves as the managing editor of the Whig, a 15,000-circulation daily publication.
Healey has taught at Cecil Community College and Washington College. He has also had several articles and three books published.
Healey’s previous writing credits include several articles on Civil War history, published in American History magazine, The Washington Times and Blue & Gray magazine, the novel Sharpshooter and the novel Rebel Fever. He was also a trade journalist for the horticulture industry with more than 50 bylines in nationally distributed magazines such as Greenhouse Grower and American Nurseryman. He has had short fiction published in Baltimore Sun Magazine, Chesapeake Bay Magazine, ESC! and Out & About.
Healey resides in Chesapeake City, Maryland, with his wife and two children.
